Sustainable Commercial Laundry Installation at Beachcroft House

Beachcroft House in Maida Vale, is a care home facility that includes 84 care bedrooms and 31 private residential flats.

Originally intendend to become a school, the site was repurposed into a modern, sustainable care complex through the collaborative efforts of First Choice Marshalls, Durkin and Westminster City Council.

A crucial part of the transformation was the installation of a fully equipped on-site commercial laundry facility capable of meeting the needs of its 110 residents while aligning with environmental best practices.

To address the space, performance, and sustainability requirements of the project, the installation included three Miele PW413 sluice washing machines, three PT 8337 WP heat pump dryers, and one PM1217 rotary iron. Planning was led by Technical Director Gary Barden, who conducted comprehensive site surveys and worked alongside architects to determine appropriate room sizing and equipment specifications.

Sustainability Matters

Switching from vented to heat pump dryers due to ventilation challenges reflects a strong commitment to sustainability. This shift not only reduced environmental impact but also ensured safer, more practical operations within the facility—especially important in care environments where efficiency and safety are paramount.
